My honest review of getting my first Stitch Fix!

My Thanksgiving weekend was full of shopping. For myself. Without leaving the house. Yes yes, my first Stitch Fix arrived on Wednesday afternoon!IMG_7564-0.JPG

(If you haven’t heard of Stitch Fix,  what you do is sign up, fill out a style questionnaire and then schedule a “Fix”. A stylist will pick out 5 pieces of clothing or jewelry for you, and then you have 3 days to decide what you want to keep!)

When I signed up last month, I promised many of you that I’d blog my first shipment, so here it is! Overall, I LOVE what I received…but I need your help because there are a couple of items I’m on the fence about…

Item numero uno was a beautiful coral “tulip-sleeve” blouse from 19 Cooper. I really love the color and the dressy-ness of it…but I am not so sure about the fit. It’s flowy but short, and I typically like tops to be longer if they’re flowy so I can wear skinny pants with them to balance out the flow on top. Hmmm…what do you think?Tulip-sleeve blouse from 19 Cooper from StitchFix

Next up, I pulled out a leather jacket. I had told my stylist that I really, really needed a fall jacket. I actually love this, and it fits just great – which is sometimes hard to find with my short arms – but I’m really just not a leather jacket-wearing kinda girl. I don’t know if I can pull this off 🙂

Actually, I do know. I can’t pull this off. See what I mean?cIMG_7404

This third item though…this is my jam. Definitely my favorite from the bunch! The 41Hawthorn striped henley blouse is dressier – could be worn for an office meeting or a dinner out with friends – which is exactly what I need. It’s flowy but longer, so I can pair it with skinny jeans or black pants. And super double bonus – the pattern and colors would easily hide Aquaphor stains if I wanted to wear it around Brenna. YES PLEASE! I’ve already got this top lined up to be worn at an event we have next week 🙂41Hawthorn striped henley blouse from StitchFix

And for my last two items. I really love these, and I got real excited when I pulled out this gold necklace from Bay to Baubles because I’ve been wanting a long gold necklace, and I LOVE the Chevron charms on it. However, I feel like the two top charms hit me in a really weird spot – anyone else??

And the top, from Market and Spruce – I really like it. I like the color and the fit, and it’s a super soft material. My biggest problem with the top is the price – it’s way more than I would typically spend on a casual top that I would probably end up wearing with leggings around the house or to run errands. I think this one might have to go in the no pile for that reason?Market and Spruce top from StitchFix

All in all, I was so happy with my shipment. I feel like my stylist totally nailed my style but also sent me outside of my comfort zone a bit, which is what I need! And they really seemed to listen my instructions of what I need – I was very specific about dealing with Aquaphor on a daily basis. I’m so excited to schedule my next shipment at some point…maybe in the later winter or early spring, when I need another wardrobe change 🙂 The best part was that it was SO EASY – no navigating the mall with a huge stroller and complaining kids.

Have you tried Stitch Fix yet? What did you think? And give me some input – what items should I keep?? 🙂

Courtney – You are lovely and could make each of these items work. Can you shorten the necklace a tiny bit to make the chevrons lay just an inch higher? The coral blouse would look beautiful with a skirt, tights and your black boots. The henley looks like it really fits your feminine yet practical style.

That’s a good thought about the necklace, maybe I will try that! Thanks for commenting 🙂

I love you in the leather jacket! Necklace needs more bulk….

I love the blue/black striped top and the casual one at bottom. The necklace is cute and see what you mean about hitting you weird…. Perhaps wrapping the necklace once around and shortening it to make a layer look? I can’t tell if the would work or not. I try that when I find one with an awkward setting on my chest. I think you could really pull off the leather jacket too! 🙂

I have only gotten 1 fix and found out I was pregnant right after so I have yet to do another but liked my experience. I kept 1 of the pieces sent and look forward to doing it again. I also found out that you can link your Pinterest boards to your Stitch Fix profile so that your stylist can better understand what you are wanting.
I really like the blue chevron top you got also!

I saw that about the Pinterest board – I really need to browse some fashion posts on Pinterest now so I can help out my stylist!

    Long time reader here!
I’m curious about the price of each item? I would love to try this I just don’t know what each item cost. Thanks!

Hi Tabitha! I selected for my items to be in the lowest priced category, and the most expensive item was the leather jacket at $68. The necklace was the least expensive at $28, and the shirts were all in the $40s. Hope that helps!

      • November 29, 2014 at 7:04 pm

Thanks so much! I think I will try it out

  • November 29, 2014 at 8:37 am

Keep the blue and coral tops for sure! I think you don’t seem so sure about the leather and the expensive top. There are so many cute necklaces out there for great prices. I do think the chevron hits in a weird spot. So many people love stitch fix that I’ll have to try it!

    • November 29, 2014 at 4:57 pm

Thanks for your input – I’m glad people seem to be agreeing about the necklace hitting in a weird spot 🙂 You should try it, so fun!

  • November 29, 2014 at 8:49 am

    Keep it all

  • November 29, 2014 at 10:03 am

Lucky you! You look great in all of them! I would have a hard time picking because you look great in every piece.

    • November 29, 2014 at 4:58 pm

      Aw thank you! 🙂

They all look great and you rock the leather jacket. I think you’d have fun with it since it can be dressed up or down. I feel like comfort is worth a lot with the blouses too but I sure feel you re. the stains. I’ve almost changed– to basically all black–due to my habitual drooling and spilling of coffee so I empathise with concern for the A stains. That would be the only reason I’d see not to go with the 2 other shirts– fit and style are great. And yep. I agree with the necklace. It’s cute but does hang funky and my guess is you might not wear it much because of it. (Oh my, when did I become a style commentator. Lol.). You are a doll in anything you wear!!!

    • November 29, 2014 at 4:59 pm

Thank you! I know, I feel like my whole wardrobe is either black or stripes… hence why I am trying out Stitch Fix for some new pieces! So far, so good 🙂

  • November 29, 2014 at 3:23 pm

I agree that the necklace is a bit too long/odd fit. Like the 2nd and 3rd top, the 1st I could go either way. The jacket is cute.

  • November 29, 2014 at 8:33 pm

Love, love, love your posts! Been a a follower for a while now! Leather jacket, if you love it, do it and it will go with all your black you say you have with a bit of bling/necklaces. Love the black and blue stripped shirt…totally you! Others, maybe not. Thanks for sharing prices, I was wondering too! Best rule for me is, if I don’t love it right away, skip it and don’t buy! Which do you just love? You are so fun to read! What an honest and adorable family! You live by such great values and by example!

I enjoy stitch fix! You have a great shape & can make any/all of the pieces work. My personal opinion…the chevron top is excellent. The leather jacket is a fun piece. The other tops are just ok. The color of the 1st is great, but awkward length & that causes awkward drape. The second top is also a nice color, but nothing outstanding or unique for the price… The necklace could be great doubled up or cinched up, but is an odd length wearing as originally intended. My rule of thumb after several “Fixes”…keep only what you LOVE…thing a you are on the fence about, you will most likely stay on the fence about…and a new “Fix” will be coming right around the corner with something more fabulous 😉 this of course is only my $.02 worth, but hope it helps! Happy Fixing!!

I think the leather jacket is great. What does your husband think? I would base my opinion on if he likes it or not 😉

  • December 1, 2014 at 6:57 am

Thanks Courtney! Happy Birthday to Brenna & Merry Christmas Blessings to the Family!!

I read your blog often but have never commented.
My favorite on you is the blue and black blouse. The necklace doesn’t do anything for you. Ask your husband what he thinks; he is the one that really matters.
