It was last Sunday, and we were just finishing up taking some photos in our new TinySuperheroes in Action T-shirts.
I had taken a photo of Brenna and was looking down at the camera, adjusting some settings, when Connor exclaimed “Brenna’s walking all by herself!!”
I glanced to the movement to my left to see Brenna shuffle slowly by, heading toward the coffee table from the couch about three feet away. Holding on to nothing and smiling.
She let go.
She let go with no persuasion from me, she let go without me being a step away to coax her. She let go all by herself.
I’m convinced that her special TinySuperheroes in Action shirt gave her an extra boost of confidence 🙂 And for the next 20 to 30 minutes, Brenna grew braver and more confident as she walked from me to Evan to the couch to the table. Eventually, she was walking the entire width of our living room – about 20 steps. With complete composure and never once falling down.
Yes, we still have a long way to go with physical therapy, because she can’t yet get herself to the standing position on her own, but I’m SO PROUD to be able to officially proclaim that
I love how she holds her belly with her right hand, as if for extra assurance and balance 🙂
She sure knows how to kick off the New Year in an exciting way!
