Sunday at the Park

Sunday at the Park

We’ve been breaking temperature records left and right here in Illinois with highs in the low 80s for the last week or so. It’s really been so refreshing to get out of the house more!

Today we took the opportunity to have a picnic lunch at Washington Park and then go feed bread to the ducks and geese…

Brenna thoroughly enjoyed the outing too 🙂 This is actually a big step for her because she typically hates her carseat (I thought all babies loved the carseat!? not this kid.)

We finally got a double stroller, purchased from another family we know, and I am so excited to now be able to take walks with both kids. We have a relatively open week, aside from a couple of doctor’s appointments (of course!), so with the weather expected to stay warm, I’m hoping to ditch the house a few times in favor of some walks around the neighborhood! These bits of normalcy are becoming more frequent, and I am so glad 🙂

I have been faithfully reading your blog for awhile now, and wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my prayers. I look forward to new postings about Brenna and what your family is up to. Thank you for sharing your experiences with others. 2 of my 3 children have kidney disorders so I know how draining life can be when it is medicalized. You have such a beautiful family!

We have been gone for a few days and just checked in to your blog. We LOVE the videos of the kids:) Wow…Brenna is doing great! And we are so glad you have the double stroller…with these awesome days no one should be in the house for long! You know you really have two babies when Connor is only 2 1/2:)…what a sweetie he is!

Levi hates his car seat too! He’s slowly starting to come around, but still fusses/cries in it about 80% of the time whether we’re in the car or he’s clicked in to the stroller for a walk or errands. I usually end up carrying him while pushing the stroller back home! I agree, it’s definitely a welcome change to finally be able to get these December babies out of the house a little more 🙂

Oh, how nice and how CUTE and how sweet! Both of my boyz despised their carseats, just fyi. I remember they were hot. Glad you can all get out and enjoy God’s wonderful nature-world. Prayers headed your way, Brenna & Family.

Be VERY careful outside with any temperature over 70. With her being so very small, she can overheat in a moment on you. My children have problems over about 75, and serious problems once it gets over 80 or so, but many other children with ichthyosis have issues even at 70-75. Until you have a good grasp on her tolerance, please watch her like crazy.

I remember when my son was about 18 months old we went out to feed ducks on a hot day. I had a giant bottle of water and Gatorade for him. We were out maybe 15-20 minutes and it was probably pushing 90 that day. By the time we got home, I had a lethargic, red kid in heat exhaustion and it could easily have rolled into heat stroke had I not caught it so quickly.

Then when I was dealing with 2 affected kids, I’d have one sweating and overheating in the shaded garage in the time it took to get the first kid in the house from the car seat. Take temperature VERY seriously. This is another one of those areas where your life will never be the same.
